Pai- Packaging design

Assets: Logo, Skincare Packaging, Social & Print Ads, Business Cards.

Pai is a product and packaging design project I made for my father’s home-made wine. It was a great passion project to broaden my skills and to also give to him as a gift to finally have a custom label on his wine in which the recipe has been carried on through the generations.

Pai is Portuguese for “father”, I came up with this name as a double meaning. One for being a tribute to my own father, who many of our family friends have always called him growing up, and in memory of my late grandfather, and secondly as a play on words. As when people ask for what you’re bring to a dinner party you can say Pai and have friends wondering if you mean the food or the wine.

Logo Conceptual Stage:

For the logo design and illustration I used a picture of my grandfather riding his donkey. I wanted the illustration to be simple yet distiguisable. It was a great way to commemorate my grandfather and to also create a visually appealing label design.

Pai's final logo (below) is an illustration I created in Adobe Illustrator referencing the photo above. It is very minimal and distinctive with a hand-made feel with the choices of fonts used.

Typography:

For the logo name Shrub Regular is used. Shrub feels like a printed, textural typestyle, influenced by the great slab-serif fonts of the 20th century and organic materials. This makes it a perfect font to portray an authentic, hand-made, classical look for the wine name.

For the subtext Articulat CF Light will be used. Articulat CF Font is a geometric sans serif font, which features 10 styles. Strong, sharp, and well-spoken, Articulat was built from scratch to be bold, clean, and clear.

Colour Palette:

This colour palette was chosen to represent the base colours the two wines my father makes, to keep with the authentic simple feel. All of the brand's packaging and content is meant to be clean, simple, and classic. All text will either be cream on top of burgundy or burgundy on top of the cream.
